Bio

Hi there!  My name is Matt Sutherlin and if you’re here, you probably want to know more about me.  So, here goes!

I’m 35 years old, married, and living in Redmond, Washington.  I’m a programmer, and my focus is in graphics for video games, but I’d like to think that I’m pretty adept at all facets of programming.  IE, I am awesome.  I worked for 3 years in the industry before getting serious about my career and going to DigiPen.  And once I was done at DigiPen, I promptly ended up at 343 Industries, writing shaders for Halo. Which is amazing.

Outside of programming, my big interests are in video games (surprise!), music, and snowboarding.

I’ve been playing games since my first Game & Watch (it was Mickey & Donald), and went through a pretty overly serious Everquest phase (for 6 years), and now I try to find time each day to play some games (I have a lot more time for it now that I’m not in school).  Knights of the Old Republic might be my favorite game of all time.

I love to listen to music, but I’m way more into playing it.  Nowadays, I’m mainly playing guitar and bass, but I have years of experience in piano and trumpet as well.  It’s actually been a while since I played with anyone, but I have a feeling Dan and I will form another band any day now.  Be on the look out for crappily recorded iPhone videos of our amazing songs.

As far as snowboarding, I’ve just been getting back into it recently after a very long hiatus.  Very long.  Like, nearly two decade long.  But I’ve been getting up to the slopes every weekend this season with no sign of slowing down.

Also, if it wasn’t already apparent, I hate snakes.  A lot.  And spiders.  But mainly snakes.
